Nice work Friday night by 10’s and 2’s on a well involved apartment fire. Heavy fire venting out the large Side A window auto exposing the 3rd floor on arrival.
The decision was made to make a quick exterior hit from the yard prior to entering the common hall way. The fire apartment door was left open as well as (at least) one other exposed apartment door on the same floor. The 1st in officers observed fire venting out the open apt door into the common hall supporting their decision to make an initial hit from the exterior. According to the officers, the exterior hit immediately suppressed the bulk of the fire as well as the fire extending into the common hall. The “Transitional Attack” was appropriate and successful here as it has been at many of our recent fires.
