REMEMBERING THE PITTSBURGH BUREAU OF FIRE & HOUSTON FD VALENTINES DAY LODD’S
Shortly after midnight on February 14, 1995, 20 years ago today, 3 Pittsburgh Firefighters were killed in the Line of Duty in a single family dwelling fire after a building collapse. Captain Thomas Brooks, Firefighter Patricia Conroy and Firefighter Marc Kolenda became separated from their crew when the stairwell collapsed.
This loss really catapulted the issues related to firefighters trapped and firefighter rescue throughout North America.
There were numerous factors that lead to the tragic deaths of these 3 Firefighters-factors that we should be well educated in. RIP.
Need a drill subject this week? No better way to honor the Fallen Firefighters.

Firefighter Lewis Mayo and Firefighter Kimberly Smith along with others, responded to reports of fire from the roof of McDonalds restaurant. This fire occurred on February 14, 2000. Due to fog conditions responses were delayed. Initial units arrived at 0439 hours and reported fire showing in the rear of the roof. Captain Frank Cucino led Mayo and Smith through the side door to make an interior attack and preform a primary search. Within minutes a large portion of the roof collapsed trapping Mayo and Smith. RIP.
Need another drill subject for next week?
Again, no better way to honor the Fallen Firefighters.
